RO 471m pacts for new projects
n Airport at Ras al Hadd
n Bid Bid-Sur road dualisation
MUSCAT — Twenty-three agreements worth RO 471 million were signed at the Ministry of Transport and Communications here yesterday for the setting up of roads, ports and civil aviation facilities. The agreements were signed on behalf of the government by Dr Khamis bin Mubarak al Alawi, Minister of Transport and Communications, while the general managers of the implementing companies signed for their firms. The first agreement (worth RO335.4 million) was signed with Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) Oman in association with Stefa Company of Turkey and Jan De Nul of Belgium related to the additional works at Al Duqm Port project (marine works).

The second agreement (RO 49 million) deals with the construction of a fly-over at Al Hadd area, the road from the port area to the Aluminium Smelter at Sohar Industrial Port. The third agreement (RO 1.8 million), signed with Interbeton Contracting Company, provides for the construction of two temporary bridges at the Sohar Industrial Port roundabout. The fourth agreement (RO 477,100), signed with the Engineering Consultancies Services, deals with consultation services for designing and supervising the construction of additional quay at the commodities general terminal and liquid substances quay ‘Salalah Methanol’ at the Port of Salalah.

Roads and development pacts: the first agreement (to the tune of RO 6.9 million) in this package was signed with Steva of Turkey to repair damage on Sur sea road and Sur-Al Aijah road The second agreement worth RO 3.7 million was signed with Khalid bin Ahmed & Sons relates to repairing Al Naba'-Isma'iyah road in the Wilayat of Ibra, a distance of 41 kilometres. The third agreement, worth RO 2.1 million, was signed with Khalid bin Ahmed & Sons related to repairing the damage caused to Al Filaij Road in the Wilayat of Barka. It covers an area of 9 kilometres. The Fourth (RO 2.7 million) provides for repairing Barka-Al Awabi-Al Rustaq road. It was signed with Galfar Engineering and Contracting company.

The fifth agreement (RO 1.46 million) was signed with Strabag Oman to repair Al Aijah-Ras Al Hadd road for a length of 31 km. The Sixth agreement (RO 14 million) was signed with Galfar Engineering Company for the construction of Wadi Bani Kharous road in the Al Batinah region, a distance of 34.2 kms. The seventh agreement (RO 3.5 million) was signed with Dar Al Handasah Designing and Technical Consultations company. It relates to consultative services for designing and supervising of the Bid Bid-Sur Dual Carriage road (First part). The eighth agreement (RO 2.9 million) was signed with Coy and Partners LLC to provide consultancy services for designing and supervising of the Bid Bid-Sur dual carriage road (second part).

The ninth agreement (RO 2.8 million) was signed with Omani Contractors Union to carry out embankments for Khasb/Teebat road in Musandam (27 km). The 10th agreement (RO 2.6 million), signed with Khalib bin Ahmed & Sons, relates to the implementation of Al Ghashibah road in the Wilayat of Bahla in the Dakhiliyah region (15.5 km). The 11th agreement (RO 2.35 million), signed with Al Sarooj Constructions company, provides for the implementation of Hoqeen/Huwail Al Majaz road in the Wilayat of Rustaq in the Al Batinah region (16 km). The 12th agreement (RO 2 million) was signed with Strabag Oman for the maintenance of Al Ghafat road in the Wilayat of Bahla in the Al Dakhiliyah region (6.3 km).

The 13th agreement (RO 1.92 million), signed with Khalid bin Ahmed & Sons company, deals with the implementation of an 11 km road from Kahnat village to Ghaizeen/Maskan road in the Wilayat of Ibri. The 14th agreement (RO 1.7 million), signed with Galfar Engineering and construction, deals with the paving of a 9 km road that connects Ghaizeen/Maskan road with Rustaq/Maskan road. The 15th agreement (RO 1.5 million), singed with Ali & Co for Trading constructing provides for the construction of Seeh Al Abyadh road in the Wilayat of Bhala in the Al Dakhiliyah region (6.8 km). In the field of civil aviation: The first agreement, signed with Desert Line Projects Company to the tune of RO 15.9 million, provides for the drainage of flood water from side roads at Muscat International Airport.

The second agreement, with Desert Line Projects company at a cost of RO 8.9 million relates to the construction of Ras Al Hadd Airport in the Sharqiyah region (phase one). The third agreement (RO 5.8 million) was signed with Galfar Engineering Consultancy in collaboration with Pride Schob Mackob for providing the consultancy services for the designing and implementation of Haima and Shaleem Airport terminal building and Adam Airport terminal building. The fourth agreement, worth of RO 1,046,991 with Al Matar Trading and Contracting, is related to works of water transportation lines for Muscat International Airport development project.
